Perdana Menteri Turki Tayyip Erdogan, seorang pendukung vokal
Presiden Mohamed Morsi, mengecam Uni Eropa dan negara lain-lainnya
karena gagal untuk mengutuk pembantaian ratusan orang di Kairo pada
hari Sabtu. Mengutuk saja gagal apalagi bertindak.
Pasukan keamanan Mesir menembak mati lebih dari seratus pendukung
Mursi pada hari Sabtu, beberapa hari setelah tentara menyerukan mandat
rakyat untuk menghapus “kekerasan dan terorisme” dan setelah penghapusan
pemerintahan demokratis pertama Mesir pada tanggal 3 Juli.
Kepala kebijakan luar negeri Uni Eropa, Catherine Ashton, mengatakan
dia “sangat menyesalkan” kematian dan menyerukan penghentian kekerasan.
Namun Erdogan, yang baru-baru telah menghadapi demonstrasi protes
jalanan besar di Turki yang menyerukan ia mundur dari pemerintah ,
menuduh Uni Eropa standar ganda untuk mempertanyakan penggunaan gas air
mata polisi di Turki tetapi sama sekali tidak berkomentar atas kematian
akibat penembakan senjata api yang diarahkan kepada para demonstran di
Kairo.
“Mereka yang diam ketika kehendak rakyat Mesir dibantai, mereka diam
lagi ketika orang dibantai. Apa yang terjadi dengan Uni Eropa (dan)
nilai-nilai Eropa, di mana orang-orang yang berkeliling memberikan
pelajaran tentang demokrasi?” Erdogan mengatakan dalam sebuah pidato
berapi api kepada sekelompok pengusaha di Istanbul yang disiarkan
televisi.
“Di mana PBB? Mana mereka yang menciptakan kehebohan ketika Polisi
Turki, dengan cara yang sepenuhnya dibenarkan dan sah menurut hukum, air
yang digunakan (meriam) dan semprotan merica . dan sekarang (di Mesir)
ketika ada kudeta dan pembantaian , kemana mereka?,” katanya.
