PIHAK berwenang bandara Mesir melarang pemenang hadiah Nobel yang
juga aktivis perdamaian Yaman, Tawakul Karman dari memasuki negara itu,
sumber keamanan mengatakan hari Ahad ini (4/8/2013).
Karman dikirim kembali pulang dengan pesawat yang sama yang ia naiki, sumber keamanan mengatakan kepada Reuters.
Namun alasan di balik larangan Karman memasuki Mesir sampai sekarang belum terungkap.
Karman pada hari Ahad ini lewat akunnya mengatakan pasukan keamanan
di Bandara Internasional Kairo memaksa dirinya untuk kembali pulang
menaiki pesawat yang ia tumpangi.
Kantor berita negara MENA Mesir tidak memberikan alasan larangan
tersebut namun mengatakan bahwa Karman telah mengumumkan solidaritasnya
dengan pendukung Presiden Mesir terguling Muhammad Mursi.
Karman di twitternya mengatakan ia ditahan di bandara dan dicegah
menuju Rabaa el-Adwiya, lokasi di mana demonstran pro-Mursi berkumpul
lebih dari satu bulan sejak penggulingan Mursi.
Ibu tiga anak, yang menjadi sosok penting simbolis dalam
pemberontakan Yaman 2012 ini adalah wanita Arab pertama yang memenangkan
hadiah Nonel. Di Yaman mereka memanggilnya “Iron Woman” dan “Ibu
Revolusi.”
Karman adalah anggota partai Islam oposisi Yaman terkemuka,
Al-Ishlah, sebuah kelompok yang membuat barat khawatir, terutama karena
anggota paling terkenalnya, Syaikh Abdul Majid al-Zindani dianggap
sebagai mantan penasehat Usamah bin Ladin.
