KAIRO -- Presiden sementara Mesir Adly Mansour, Selasa (6/8), mencela
pernyataan anggota Kongres AS John McCain mengenai apa yang terjadi di
Mesir. Ia menganggap pernyataan tersebut sebagai campur tangan yang tak
bisa diterima dalam urusan dalam negeri Mesir.
Penasehat media presiden Mesir Ahmed al-Mislimani, yang mengutip
Mansour, mengatakan McCain memalsukan fakta dan pernyataan janggalnya
ditolak dengan tegas. Begitu laporan yang dilansir kantor berita resmi
Mesir, MENA.
Presiden AS Barack Obama telah menahan diri dari penggunaan kata
"kudeta" untuk menggambarkan peristiwa politik paling akhir di Mesir.
Namun McCain berkeras itu "adalah kudeta" dan itu bisa menimbulkan
dampaknya, sebab hukum AS menyeru pemerintah agar menghentikan bantuan
buat setiap negara yang militernya menggulingkan seorang pemimpin yang
dipilih secara demokratis.
Meskipun pemerintah Muhammad Mursi mesti dikecam, McCain pada Selasa
(6/8) sebagaimana dikutip MENAN mengatakan di Kairo, "Kondisi
pelengseran Moursi adalah kudeta. Ini adalah peralihan kekuasaan bukan
melalui kotak suara."
Bersama rekannya, Lindsey Graham, McCain tiba di Kairo pada Senin
(5/8) untuk kunjungan dua hari guna bertemu dengan para pemimpin
sementara Mesir dan anggota Ikhwanul Muslimin, termasuk yang berasal
dari Partai Kebebasan dan Keadilan.
Kedua pejabat tersebut, yang mendesak para pejabat mesir agar
membebaskan tahanan politik dan melancarkan dialog nasional, datang ke
Kairo dalam kerangka kerja upaya penengah luas oleh negara asing. Tujuan
upaya tersebut ialah untuk menyelesaikan percekcokan antara pemerintah
sementara dan pendukung Mursi.
Namun al-Mislimani mengatakan tekanan asing telah melampaui standard
internasional. Sekalipun mencap penggulingan Mursi sebagai "kudeta",
McCain mengatakan kunjungannya bukan untuk menangani masa lalu tapi
membantu Mesir bergerak maju secara damai dan demokratis.
